FoundOcean News - FoundOcean completes substation foundation grouting for Walney OWF PhaseII

FoundOcean, contracted to Volker Staal en Funderingen BV (VSF), has completed the offshore grouting operations for Walney Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) Phase 2 substation installation.

The substation jacket is a four-legged steel structure with one pile sleeve per leg. The jacket was secured to the seabed by injecting grout into the annuli between the pile and the sleeve. The cement used was Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) CEM I Type 52.5N.

Mark Boyd, Operations Manager for FoundOcean and Supervisor for this project recalled, “It was a pleasure to work with the VSF team on this project. For me personally, it was exciting to head out to the Walney field as FoundOcean was also responsible for the grouting operations for the phase 1 substation.”

“We’ve come to expect an outstanding level of service from FoundOcean as standard, having worked with them previously. They complemented our professional approach to ensure a fast and perfect execution of the project,” commented Laurent van Mansfeld, Manager International Operations for VSF, “even the weather was on our side!”

VSF performed the piling works for Scaldis Marine Contractors.
