Concrete Mattresses & Structures

Foundocean manufactures and supplies a range of subsea products for protection, stabilisation and anti-scour.

MassivMesh is a flexible concrete mattress consisting of hexagonal concrete elements linked together with high strength non-degradable polypropylene rope. The mattress has many uses in the protection, support and stabilisation of subsea structures and pipelines and has been designed for its flexibility and ease of handling during installation.

MassivMesh conforms closely to structural and seabed profiles. Where local scouring occurs, polypropylene fronds may be added to enhance the build up of a spoil bank. MassivMesh mattresses are used for the protection of pipelines, cables, umbilicals and spoolpieces. In addition they are used to support pipelines where the seabed profile is uneven; to stabilise pipelines in areas which are susceptible to high currents; and for a number of other specialist applications. Efficient installation procedures are fundamental to the economic viability of subsea maintenance systems.

MassivMesh is installed either singly or linked together using purpose built lifting frames. Multiple deployment reduces vessel time and the mattresses, supplied in segmented form can be linked on deck prior to deployment, saving valuable deckspace. Foundocean has specially designed 6m, 10m and 12m deployment frames which can be adapted for ROV or diver release.

MassivMesh mattresses can be supplied in a range of sizes and varying concrete densities to suit the particular application. Thicknesses are typically 15cm and 30cm and concrete densities range from 1,800 kg/m3 to 7,200 kg/m3. Standard concrete density is 2,380 kg/m3.

FlexiWeight is a flexible concrete mattress consisting of hexagonal concrete logs linked together with high strength nondegradable polypropylene rope providing flexibility in one direction.

FlexiWeight has a higher weight per unit area than MassivMesh which is valuable for applications where a high stabilisation load is required. FlexiWeight can be deployed simply by either crane or lifting frame using slings attached to the polypropylene lifting loops provided.

FlexiWeight is produced in several dimensions with the most common being 3m x 1.5m x 15cm. Thicknesses up to 50cm can be supplied and concrete densities range from 1,800 kg/m3 to 7,200 kg/m3. Standard concrete density is 2,380 kg/m3.

Concrete structures can be produced in a wide range of designs in addition to the TaperWeight. These include pipeline crossings, ramps and supports, dropped object protection tunnels and clump weights.
