FoundOcean focuses on R&D by working towards UKAS accreditation

23 May 2013

FoundOcean, the largest dedicated offshore construction grouting company in the world, continues its investment in research and development by working towards a UKAS accreditation for the company.

Dr. David Snelson will lead the project, bringing with him extensive experience gained as a researcher and materials testing officer at the Centre for Engineering, Research and Environmental Applications (CEREA) at the University of Glamorgan.

Damien Murphy, Technical Director at FoundOcean comments: "We are privileged to have David on the team. With a strong background in cement materials laboratory testing, he will be developing and evaluating new materials to answer the offshore industry's demand. FoundOcean has traditionally been client-led when using new materials; now, with David's expertise, we will be able to offer our clients a number of options to suit their needs."

David will be coordinating the company’s continued expansion of its onshore and offshore laboratories. "I have an exciting opportunity to use my research experience to not only help develop new materials, but also to make a significant contribution towards gaining UKAS accreditation for the company. This should reassure our clients of our continued commitment to quality control in the offshore sector.”

Receiving UKAS Accreditation also means that the laboratories' processes and facilities will be regularly monitored by an independent body, ensuring they meet the requirements of international accreditation standards. Such accredited testing laboratories are a superb source of impartial advice and knowledge transfer.

With nearly 50 years’ experience of subsea and offshore foundation grouting for the global energy construction industries, FoundOcean continues with its forecasted growth strategy of expanding its high profile presence in the offshore energy sector by building additional grout mixing equipment, and employing more engineers and operational personnel.
