James (Jim) Bell, Managing Director


Jim started his engineering career in 1989 with the Wimpey Construction Group. He worked in various heavy civil construction projects before moving to Wimpey's offshore construction division. He then spent 3 years as a client engineer on London Underground's Jubilee Line Extension Project, following which he was recruited by Oil States Industries where he worked as EMEA Sales Manager. In 2005 Jim moved to FoundOcean as Managing Director where he has implemented major strategic changes resulting in a significant expansion of the business. These changes include international expansion, research and investment in new plant, a 500% increase in employee numbers, leading to a 10-fold increase in revenues.

Jim has been involved with numerous technically challenging projects including the Woodside North Rankin B jacket installation, Thornton Bank Wind Farm, BP CATS pipeline repair, ConocoPhillips Ekofisk strengthening, Exxon Diana Truss Spar riser system and Umm Shaif Gas Development project.

Jim holds a degree in civil engineering from London’s City University.

Andy Venn, Sales Director

Andy-Venn.jpgAndy began his career as a mechanical engineering apprentice with British Rail Engineering Limited in the 1980’s. After completing his apprenticeship he moved into CNC machining and later CNC tooling design. In 2003 Andy moved to Switzerland within a division of one of the world’s largest and most diversified specialty metals producers as European Sales Administration Manager and later as their European Marketing Manager.

As Sales Director Andy is responsible for the company’s business development in both the Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy sectors, as well as being responsible for the organisations marketing and communication policies. Andy has a degree in engineering design and change management from the Open University.

Pauric Whelan, Regional Manager Americas


After graduating from Kingston University London in 2008, Pauric began working for Keller Group a geotechnical engineering specialist on some of the major infrastructure projects in the UK. These projects included; the Olympic Park in London, the Forth Replacement Crossing, Victoria Station Upgrade, the M74 Extension and the M80 & M1 Widening.

Pauric joined FoundOcean in March 2013 and has worked in projects in SE Asia, the North Sea and West Africa before moving to Houston in May 2014 to become the FoundOcean Engineering Manager for the Americas region. Some of the projects Pauric has worked on include the Ayatsil-A & C installations for PEMEX, as well as in the Heidelberg Field for Anadarko where an industry record depth for grouting operations was achieved at 5,300’ (1,615m).
